Alison Zimner, Ph.D.
The demands of modern life increasingly necessitate managing multiple roles and stressors, while also offering numerous ways to distract and numb ourselves through technology and other outlets. It is easy to become disconnected from our relationships and ourselves, and lose sight of our values and goals. I believe that psychotherapy provides a unique opportunity to slow down, examine emotional and behavioral patterns that may be ineffective, and make more conscious choices about how to live. My role as a therapist is to help you define your goals and facilitate a supportive and collaborative partnership that empowers you to achieve them.
I work with adolescents and adults and use an integrative approach that incorporates cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness techniques. Additionally, I have specialized training in evidence-based treatments for addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic pain. Other areas of expertise and interest include work-life balance, relationship and parenting concerns, and women’s issues.
